  14. Just as an aside for those of us using Cabletron FDMMIMs in our network(s),
  15. verison 1.02.02 is available for the firmware that corrects a problem with
  16. the bridge suddenly getting real stupid and apparently not working.

  18. The basic problem centers around the fact that in order to do translational
  19. briding, the MIM has to disassemble the packet(s) for reassembly on the
  20. other side.  If the packet disassembles as junk, the packet is reassembled, and
  21. discarded.  However, in versions of the firmware up to 1.02, the buffer
  22. (there are 32 of them) wasn't released for reuse, so, at some point, 
  23. the FDDI ring seems to be out of service due to the cpu on the card running
  24. out of buffers to use for legitimate packets.

  26. Solution is version 1.02.02 of the firmware, flash downloadable from
  27. remote lanview or a tftp server.  Customer support in NH can provide...
