  15. it seems I lost orientation in the jungle of the various kinds of
  16. copper PMDs (i.e. FDDI over twisted pair copper cable).
  17.  
  18. I heard at least of STP (shielded twisted pair), UTP (unshielded TP),
  19. CDDI (Copper Distributed Data Interface), and TPDDI (guess :). 
  20.  
  21. Things I need to know are:

  23. o  Which of the above (and possible others) are only different names
  24.    for the same thing? 
  25.  
  26. o  What are the technical specifications for the various technologies?
  27.  
  28. o  Are there (real or de-facto) standardization efforts for copper PMDs?
  29.    If so, what is their status?
  30.  
  31. o  If there is a kind of best-seller or shooting star among the various
  32.    copper FDDIs, who is it, and for what reasons?
  33.  
  34. If there's anyone out who could help me answering some of my
  35. questions, or provide me with pointers on where to find answers, I'd
  36. be quite glad, as I'm to write an article about FDDI (no problem at
  37. all, besides this copper stuff, which should nevertheless not be left
  38. out).
