- I know this can be done with BinkleyTerm as a front-end mailer, and I assume
- it can be done with FrontDoor. Most mailers have a capability of recognizing
- more than just the FTSC poll or the escape key when a caller connects.. for
- example, when I had both WAFFLE and Wildcat running under Binkley, coded a
- couple of statements in binkley's config like so:
-
- ExtrnMail 140 wc
- ExtrnMail 150 wa
-
- And I also created a Binkley.ban file to show a menu of sorts, telling users
- to enter "wc" for Wildcat, and "wa" for waffle. 5 extra lines of code in
- my controlling batch file for each choice, and I was set. I'm pretty sure
- FrontDoor allows for the same type of function, although the process/syntax
- is almost certainly different than Binkley. At any rate, it worked quite
- well as a front-end for me. All I'd suggest is that you increase the default
- "wait time" for your mailer (period it will wait without any caller input
- before it assumes the caller is human and takes the default BBS path) to a long
- enough interval to ensure the caller has time to read and react to your menu.
- The default times of 15-20 seconds for mailers are not quite long enough in
- most cases.
- Cheers,
- Kevin
