  17. 1) The purpose of these messages are to act as a gentle guidance to
  18. the users.  There is no reprimand nor "inhumanity" intended.  I've
  19. been around too long for that.  I can assure you that this is
  20. benevolent.

  22. 2) The fact that this newsgroup is not moderated does not mean that
  23. the accepted charter is not in effect.  The validity of the charter
  24. is has nothing to do with the absence or a presence of complaints.

  26. 3) All guidance notes had "(administrative)" in the subject line so
  27. that it is easy for the users who find them disruptive to put this
  28. designator in their kill files. 
  29.  
  30. 4) This newsgroup has had a very auspicious start.  We do not wish
  31. to replicate the problems we had in comp.binaries.ibm.pc.archives,
  32. and that is one reason why it is necessary to inform the gentle
  33. users right away.

  35. 5) It is not even rational to send off-topic postings.  Posted to a
  36. correct newsgroup they are much more likely to elicit useful
  37. answers. This is to everyone's benefit.

  39. 6) You are right.  I am not the moderator of this newsgroup.  It is
  40. unmoderated.  But this being a discussion subgroup of the
  41. comp.archives.msdos.announce newsgroup, where I am a moderator, and
  42. having been one of the persons who founded comp.archives.msdos.d I
  43. think I have some responsibility and some say in here.

  45. 7) Please call me Timo rather than a "Mr".  I only say this because
  46. you seem to prefer proper procedures yourself.
