- This way of saying things is perfect ammunition for all the lefty do-gooders
- out there. It also assumes that all immigrants are bums.
-
-
- What I would say about new immigration policies: Canada should be a fairly
- open country (not like we'are short on space!), and shouldn't be too
- restrictive of people's movements. However, to qualify for citizenship
- and benefits like welfare, etc. new immigrants should 'pay their dues'
- before they can stick their hands out. I think that entitlements and
- other benefits of Canadian citizenship should NOT apply, until at LEAST
- five years of work and residency.
-
- This would be better in two ways:
-
- 1. the 'freeloaders' as you put it, wouldn't get any benefits
- 2. This open door kind of policy would let in a lot of hard working
- people who would bring alot to Canada. It isn't too much to ask of
- New soon-to-be Canadians to stay off welfare, prison etc. Call it
- a qualifying 5 years. The reward for this five years, is CITIZENSHIP,
- which is certainly a privelege, and one that many would treasure;
- we shouldn't be handing the benefits immediately.
