- A great misconception about AIDS is that only people in big cities
- can get it, or only people who are gay or use IV drugs. Wrong.
- About a month ago, Newsweek published a map of the U.S. showing
- the HIV infection rate in each area, with darker colors meaning a
- higher rate. The 1984 map showed almost no infection in the
- midwest, except for a couple of pockets around Chicago. The 1991 map
- showed huge blotches of color all over the farm belt. THIS IS NOT
- A CRISIS OF BIG CITIES ALONE. To say that the farmer in Fargo
- is not at risk is wrong. The farmer is at risk if he engages in
- risky behavior, and some of them do. (e.g. prostitutes)
