  12. Well, the most obvious thing is that you did indeed get a parity error
  13. from your memory. This panic occurs when the system receives an NMI,
  14. and then tries to reproduce the NMI by touching all of memory (AT
  15. machines don't tell you where a parity error happened). In your case,
  16. the OS found that your system generated an NMI at address 0x006C710E.
  17. Currently, the OS does not map out bad pages of memory and continue,
  18. even if it isn't in kernel memory. So, it panics. If it happens again,
  19. note the address and see if it is within the same bank of memory. If
  20. it is, you may have a bad SIM. On the other hand, a power spike could
  21. have caused it, or, unfortunately, a lot of other hardware specific
  22. problems.

  24. What I'm trying to say is that I rather doubt this was caused by an
  25. upgrade to ODT 2.0; there is no way for the OS to generate an NMI.
