  19.   "Dirty rice" will probably just become "rice", unless I can find some
  20. suitable adjective, which is unlikely. In many cases, I need to know the
  21. precise meaning of a term not because it affects the translation, but just
  22. to be sure that I haven't missed anything. It's an unfortunate fact that a
  23. translator has to understand the stuff he is translating. Many translators,
  24. to be sure, blithely disregard this principle.
