  10. I am assisting a colleague in the supervision of a senior student project.

  12. A local dairy company uses Dickey-john Near Infra Red analysers to
  13. estimate %fat, %moisture, %protein, etc in dairy products. The
  14. analyser uses a multiple regression equation with predictors being
  15. the logs of reflectance values at several frequencies. From time to
  16. time the analysers are calibrated against standard chemical methods.

  18. In between calibrations minor adjustments are made on the basis of
  19. the results for a few items. The student's task is to review the
  20. procedure being used for these adjustments, and for the calibrations
  21. themselves.

  23. We would be interested in any advice, or pointers to appropriate
  24. literature, that someone who has worked in this area previously
  25. might be able to give.
