- You asked for a 'good' description of a LIST3820 file. Let me take a crack at
- it:
-
- A LIST3820 is a sequential file with Advanced Function Printing control records
- as indicated by the x'5A' in column 1 of each record. This file, or data stream
- (aka AFPDS for Advanced Function Printing Data Stream), instructs the AFP
- printers how to format and place information on the printed page. Included in
- the AFPDS can be Page Definitions, Form Definitions, Overlays, Fonts and user
- print data (e.g. text).
-
- Hope this helps.
-
- btw. There is a CMS Rexx utility called AFPROBE that is available on VMSHARE
- and from the DOCC Project at SHARE that will 'de-compose' an AFPDS and let you
- know what each record is in what approximates English.
