  22. To copy a file, all a program has to do is open the file for reading, it
  23. then reads until the end of the file, and writes the file out to a new
  24. destination.

  26. As long as a user has read access to a file, then a COPY is possible. How
  27. can NetWare distinguish whether the read access is copying the file or a
  28. legitimate read by an application?

  30. They tried a trick with the "Execute-only" attribute, which would only
  31. allow reading a file as part of the DOS execute program API...but that
  32. causes problems with any program that uses overlays...like any Windows
  33. application.

  35. It's a DOS limitation...so aside from deleting all copy utilities off of
  36. your network, and patching COMMAND.COM to get rid of the COPY command,
  37. there's nothing that can be done to prevent a copy.
