  12. I need some advice/opinions on a problem I am facing.  The network I am
  13. currently administrating was initially set up because they did not want
  14. to string cables for print sharing.  Right now, print sharing and eMail
  15. are the primary applications.  At peak periods I usually have close to
  16. 190 users logged to the system.  All data files are stored on their local
  17. drives.

  19. Now, between the 35 print servers constantly polling for print jobs and
  20. most of the users sitting in eMail, it is no wonder that I am having
  21. performance problems.

  23. Awhile back, a new machine was delivered to my doorstep and I was told
  24. that this was to be used as the second server.  This machine would
  25. maintain the shared Paradox, Dbase etc. data files and be part of the
  26. same network.

  28. I feel that this approach is not the way it should be done.  This server
  29. should be segmented.  The question is how.

  31. Would this be overkill...segment this server and put a bridge between it
  32. and the main server.  Wouldn't this require additional application
  33. software.  In other words, Paradox, Dbase, eMail etc., would have to be
  34. installed on the additional server?
