- All of this uninformed discussion regarding PL/S - PL/AS - PL/X is
- amusing (or annoying, as the case may be) to us IBMers who are actually
- familiar with the language; however, about 80% of the claims being made
- here about the language are simply wrong. It is dangerous to try to
- infer "facts" about the language based on a few snippets of (perhaps
- badly-written) code that you may have seen sometime in the past.

- Oh, by the way, the COMPARE-AND-SWAPs don't really get in the way --
- being able to exploit the other CPUs in the system more than makes up
- for the inconvenience of having to deal with MP issues. (However, I
- agree that we need more programmers who Really Understand the "Sequence
- of Storage References" and "Serialization" sections at the end of
- Chapter 5 of Principles of Operation.)
