- VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

- TITLE: User Services Librarian, Circulation Support

- ENVIRONMENT: The Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA) provides
- automated support services to the libraries of the nine universities in
- the State University System (SUS). FCLA is an agency of the SUS, located
- in Gainesville, and administered by the University of Florida. The
- services are based on a single, shared installation of NOTIS plus FCLA-
- developed software. All nine universities are using the circulation/
- course reserve module.

- RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist staff at the SUS libraries in use of circulation/
- course reserve functions by providing onsite training, phone and e-mail
- consulting, and support documentation. Monitor libraries for problems or
- needs related to the system. Assist in maintenance of the circulation
- system control tables. Work with FCLA programming staff on the design,
- development, and testing of both online and batch enhancements and fixes
- as well as the testing and installation of new releases of the NOTIS
- software. Other duties as assigned. This position reports to the
- Assistant Director for Library Services.

- TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent and at least
- two years professional experience with circulation and/or course reserve
- administration or supervision.

- OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Willingness to travel; excellent written and oral
- communication skills; background in automated library systems; experience
- in user training; knowledge of MARC formats; understanding of programming
- concepts; knowledge and appreciation of diversity in procedures and
- practices; ability to perform time-sensitive and complex tasks and to
- work independently, with attention to detail; ability and dexterity to
- perform technical functions online under general direction and to perform
- a variety of functions at the keyboard.

- RANK AND SALARY: Instructor or Assistant University Library; $22,000 to
- $28,000 depending upon experience and qualification.

- BENEFITS: Twelve month, tenure track appointment with faculty status.
- Twenty-two days vacation and thirteen days sick-leave per year. Retirement
- plan options, group health plan, and life insurance available. No local
- or state income tax.
