- j-man, i'm not sure whether "The Loss of the Creature" is included in
- *Message in the Bottle*, though if the latter comprises Percy's collected
- essays, twould only make sense if it is. "Creature" is included in a
- collection of readings that i like to use in teaching freshman comp, *Ways
- of Reading*. The essay tends to upset students, for it challenges all sorts of
- assumptions regarding a great national icon . . . the Grand Canyon!
