- Dear CHRISTIAists,
-
- A Merry Christmas to you all! I am indeed back on-line, but not able
- to subscribe directly for lack of computer time. I am however watching you
- from reading the log files! Many thanks to whoever it was posted the C.S.
- Lewis poem "A Footnote to All Prayers" - it is one of my favorites and I didn't
- have a copy of my own.
-
- This Christmas is shaping up to be truly ironic, and I am enjoying
- God's sense of humor immensely. I have a husband who is an agnostic, but yet
- will defend to the death not only Christianity, but the particular brand of
- Anglo-Catholicism which he used to belong to. So I have the fun of watching
- his annoyance at the world for putting up Christmas decorations before the
- proper liturgical season!
-
- This Christmas we will be at my (athiest) parents for Christmas, as we
- alternate. This will be the first Christmas where we haven't been home to his
- parents at some point during the Christmas season, and as his father is a
- devout Anglican priest, much will be missed at my parents home by comparison.
- K. also is regretting the lack of the faith - so much so that he has asked me
- to bring along our nativity scene for our room!
-
- To make life even more fun, my agnostic husband has decided to convince
- my athiest father to come to midnight Mass this Christmas. And the true irony
- is that I think Dad just might come if K. asks him!
-
- So a merry Christ-mass to you all, and may you all have as interesting
- a celebration as mine is shaping up to be.
-
- -Lora Harris.

- PS - A note on some of the previous discussions: The Anglican Catholic Church
- is indeed a seperate organization from the Anglican communion which includes
- the Church of England, the Episcopalian Church of the USA, and the Anglican
- church of Canada. I also wish to point out that while the ACC is
- Anglo-Catholic, Anglo-Catholics withinin the Anglican communion have no
- connection with the ACC.
-
- PSS - Someone posted a list of Advent reading which went through the prophecies
- of the Messiah and their fulfillment in Christ. The readings for Morning and
- Evening Prayer in the Book of Common Prayer do the same thing for the season of
- Advent, so if someone loses that particular list, they can look at a prayer
- book in most libraries, and if not there, many churches.
