  10. Here is part of a news story I clipped from a March 3, 1988 news-
  11. paper.  It seems relevant to a current discussion:

  13.      "An abortion rights activist who got a one-year suspended sen-
  14. tence for making false bomb threats to make the pro-life movement
  15. look bad got a 'light' sentence, said a California pro-life leader.

  17.      "Susan Carpenter-McMillan, president of the Right to Life League
  18. of Southern California, made her comments in a telephone interview
  19. two weeks after Frank Mendiola, 30, was sentenced Feb. 10 after
  20. pleading guilty in Los Angeles Superior Court to three counts of
  21. telephoning false bomb threats.

  23.      "Mendiola, a frequent speaker for abortion rights groups in
  24. California and Washington, made the false threats to a newspaper,
  25. women's groups and police.  The calls, court records said, were among
  26. several made anonymously in 1986 from someone claiming to be with the
  27. Army of God, an anti-abortion group, and saying he had planted bombs
  28. in abortion clinics and offices and homes of people who ran them.

  30.      "Mendiola, while in jail awaiting sentencing, told the Los
  31. Angeles Times that he telephoned false bomb threats to 'have you
  32. people, the media, come done with a harder line on those people who
  33. are harassing the clinics.'"
