  11. I am pleased to announce that I am going to be the one to record the ALLMUSIC
  12. compilation volume 2 master tape(s). Marco Olivotto (olivotto@itncisca.bitnet)
  13. said he would take care of dubbing and distributing in Europe and other
  14. non-American countries. Paul Heroy (heroy@lsuvm.bitnet) has volunteered to
  15. copy and distribute tapes for the U.S. (Paul may need some help, especially if
  16. there are many tapes to be made. So if you are interested, please contact one
  17. of us).

  19. The following steps will be taken:
  20.  
  21. 1) Everyone who wishes to participate will send me via PRIVATE e-mail
  22.    (gmgettie@thama1.apgea.army.mil), at most 5 of their selections in order
  23.    of priority. I need:
  24.         the SONG TITLE,
  25.         the ARTIST,
  26.         the ALBUM(S), if any, this song is on,
  27.         the TIME of the song (the EXACT time, if possible),
  28.         your full name, and
  29.         your e-mail address.
  30.    The song should be at most around 8 MINUTES long. The songs will be
  31.    put on the tape based on your priority and whether or not they will fit
  32.    (time) on the tape. You have until Friday, January 8, 1993 to email me
  33.    your selections.

  35. 2) I will organize the songs in a way that they will fit on a tape (90 minute
  36.    most likely). If enough selections are sent to me, I will consider making
  37.    an additional tape. EVERYONE is invited to participate. If I receive
  38.    too many selections (a problem I'd like to have) some may not have their
  39.    song(s) put on the tape. If you are helping out with the tape, your
  40.    song(s) will definitely appear on the tape. The next deciding factor will
  41.    be how long you have been on this list and/or how much you contribute to
  42.    the list. Most likely, *all* of your 5 songs will *not* appear on the tape.
  43.    It all depends on how many people respond and how long your songs are.

  45. 3) After I have the tape(s) totally planned out, I will start recording. Most
  46.    likely, I will not have your selections. If I do not have or cannot borrow
  47.    the necessary material you have the following options:
  48.  
  49.      a) Send me a CD(s) with your song(s) that I have chosen to be on the tape.
  50.         Because I have the tape mapped out already, I will be able to
  51.         record the song on its proper side of the tape and quickly send
  52.         the CD back to you. If you want your CD returned to you include
  53.         a check for return postage. I have contacted the post office in my
  54.         area and have been told it costs between $1.20 and $1.40 (with
  55.         envelope) to send a CD through the mail. If you are sending to me
  56.         from outside the United States, this will most likely be more
  57.         expensive.
  58.      b) Send me a tape with your selection(s) recorded on it. Include a check
  59.         for return postage money if you want me to return the tape to you.
  60.         This option is probably better if you are sending me more than one
  61.         song. Prices for sending the tape are approximately the same for
  62.         sending a CD.

  64.    I prefer the CD method for the following reasons. 1) Sound Quality.
  65.    2) For you. It is cheaper for you to send me a CD and pay for postage twice
  66.    than it is for you to buy a tape and pay for postage. I realize some of
  67.    you may not want to part with your CDs. I will send you your CD back a
  68.    day or two after I receive it. You won't be without it for too long.
  69.    I will post my postal address as soon as it is needed.

  71. 4) If for some reason people send their song via e-mail and DO NOT send me
  72.    the CD etc. Paul, Marco, and myself will fill in the blanks with our
  73.    songs or other songs that other people have sent me that I have.
  74.  
  75. 5) I will send the master tape(s) to the distributors. They will handle
  76.    copying tapes and sending out tapes to ANYONE who wants one. The charge for
  77.    the tape will also be decided by the distributors.

  79. 6) If someone wants to make up some kind of booklet or something, like that
  80.    was done for the last one, let me know. If someone wants to draw up a
  81.    neat design for the tape cover, let me know. Otherwise, we will just
  82.    include only songs, artists, and contributors names.

  84. This can work with a LITTLE BIT of effort from everyone. SEND ME YOUR
  85. SELECTIONS AS SOON AS YOU CAN. I must receive them by Friday, January 8, 1993.
