- >Let me get the business out of the way first: I'll be playing again at the
- >Middle East Cafe under the name "Chenrezi" (my favorite Tibetan god-- he's
- >the one with the thousand arms and thousand eyes).
-
- Would your god like to meet my goddess, Kilonippi, the one with a thousand
- nipples... :*)
-
- >It'll be largely improv,
-
- duh... :)
-
- >me on the Indonesian tuned gongs and marimba and whatever other percussion
-
- There you go, Adam, another chance to see Michael play with his gonad bongs!
- I just thought of the reason why you found these gongs so intriguing, dearest
- Bloomie -- it's because each it shaped like a brass breast and you bang on the
- nipples! :)
-
- >We're playing with "Nixon's Leg,"
-
- Gee... I wonder if tricky dicky's ticklish? :)
-
- >an ad hoc band
-
- it's his leg, so it's a pork hoc band... :)
-
- >This all takes place a week from today, Wednesday, December 30, at 9PM.
-
- Wish I were there to see all that percussive foreplay... bang a gong at
- midnight in my honor, ok? :)
-
- >saxophones = jazz, Marshall amps = metal, pedal steel = country & western,
- >accordions = polka, etc.
-
- you forgot one: bagpipes = sex
-
- >> Ummm... did I miss something?! I hope this offer wasn't embedded in lyrics
- >> of "Hey Mickey"...
- >
- >I had trouble believing it either, so I went back and checked. (No, I don't
- >own this record, I went to the Tufts radio station and played their copy.)
-
- Sure yah did... ;*}
-
- >The relevant verse goes: "So go ahead and give it to me, any way you can /
- >Any way you wanna do it, I'll take you like a man," the last phrase sung in
- >her breathiest Mae West. How else can you interpret this? :-)
-
- ummm... ok... i get it... i mean, i don't *get* it, but i get it... get it?
-
- > ... My faves: "The Beat of Black Wings", "Coyote", "Woodstock".
- > Bloomdido proof: "The Beat of Black Wings", "River", "Refuge of the Road".
-
- I forgot to mention that "The Beat..." is ripe with drones and nice percussion
- provided by didjeridoo, kjembe, udu, and caxixi... there's some chanting too.
-
- >"Refuge of the Road" is a terrific song, as is "Coyote," and I could see Spirit
-
- "Refuge..." has some nice synth tidbits with some sampling and assorted clunks
- and clangs... :)
-
- John Mann's vocals (drool, drool) are lovely in "Coyote"... oh yeah... and the
- violin and vox in "Shades of Scarlett..." too! And in that song I can swear
- that I hear one of those sound tubes (akin to a ribbed vaccuum hose) that kids
- buy and swing around in the air to get that high pitched spooky wooooooing
- sound. :)
-
- >of the West doing a kick version of it. I do notice a preponderance of tunes I
- >dislike-- all those giggling airhead soliloquies from _Blue_, for instance.
-
- "Giggling airhead soliloquies"?? yipes... :) Sonia... you hold him down and
- I'll tickle him to death. :*)
-
- >> Libby says, "forget it, if all yer gonna do is listen." :)
- >
- >Okay, I'll bang the bodhran too.
-
- Lovely metaphor: banging on goatskin -- considering that i'm a Capricorn...
- :)
-
- >> my dentist and told him that I'd ask y'all for recommendations to add to his
- >> playlist -- what do you guys think?
- >
- >John Zorn. Skinny Puppy. _Uncle Meat_.
-
- eesh... does your dentist wear black? :)
-
- >> Lower Beverly - Razorbacks (Carol) <--- the give head song
- >
- >How come you never played this for me?
-
- I played that flute tune for you, remember? ;*}
-
- >> ... OK? Who's gonna be around anyhow?
- >
- >I don't get vacations *sniff*
-
- Yah... like Indonesia was a working trip? BTW, what's with all the disasterous
- earthquakes there lately.... looks like you got out in time. Yipes.

-
- Nah... Timmy'd do Tull...
-
- >That isn't the argument. The argument is that with the wide variety of tastes
- >that people have here, to please everyone and to be comprehensive, you'll need
- >a 10 hour tape.
-
- I'll pass on volunteering to dub for that one!
-
- >I'd distinguish Ratt & Poison as pap, er I mean pop metal.
-
- Just take out the & and that's how I'd describe them both.... :)
-
- >>I wanted to wish anyone whose signing off for the holidays a Merry Christmas
- >>and a Happy New Year! And to those die-hards like me who'll be hanging
- around,
- >>let's get together and e-party and make everyone else feel like they missed
- out
- >>on all the fun. OK? Who's gonna be around anyhow?
- >
- >I'll be here with the yuletide beer.
-
- I'll bring the moose jerky... Bloomie, what are you bringing??
-

- >Fuck! Shot down in flames. Mr. Bloom, is there anything you *don't* have,
-
- the clap?? ;)
-
- >anything you *haven't* heard? For once, just once, I thought I mighta had
- >something none of you all heard of. Fuck! You even have the same album (they
- >have 5 or so) I am ordering. It's called _The Music Of Erich Zann_. Shit!
-
- Don't torture yourself, Gary... Bloomie used to do this for a living... (not
- the self-torture, but the music research/critic thing)... :)
-
- >I like your umulat.
-
- Gee... you never showed *me* your umulat, Michael... :)
