- I basically agree with David's point, but there was a case in which an
- artist painted a picture of Chicago's first black mayor Harold
- Washington wearing women's underware, and there was a stink and the
- aldermen and police ended up arresting the painting. Most artists
- condemded the police action, saying it was the artist's right....

- The Art Institute of Chicago caved in, however, the previous time they did
- something that annoyed the city government (under Richie Daley SR.)
- found some fire inspectors soon coming over, and they found some "code
- violations" that costed $100,000 to fix.

- Ironically, after all the dust settled, in order to promote artistic
- opportunities for minority artists, they had an exhibition of art by
- minority artists. And one artist who goes under the pen name of Dread
- Scott had an exhibition which required you to walk on the U.S. flag.
- Needless to say, another round of controversy.
