- Hey! It's Zappa's b-day so somebody chime in on one of the finest composers
- ever to thumb his nose at society. One of the few musicians who might be
- genuinely capable of being President, but who'd wanna? In his autobiography
- he talks about discovering his classical hero Edgard Varese in a stereo store;
- The sales people apparently would use this screechy, bombastic careening
- *music* as a sound tester to show people this new thing called "stereo
- separation". He apparently went in and asked where they got it, and they
- just gave him the store copy. After that, on a subsequent b-day (his 13th or
- thereabouts) he asked as his present, to be allowed to *call* Varese long-
- distance. Can't remember if he got his wish.
- Happy Birthday Frank!
