- Treat yourself to something positive and memorable! When I turned 30
- I had been going through a bad year (long-time relationship ended at
- the same time I got laid off!) The one bright spot of that year was
- doing something I'd always wanted to do: I went hot-air ballooning
- over the vineyards of Napa. Now all I have to do is look back at
- the pictures and I still get a kick from it.
-
- As to your family, remind them that you could be quite unhappily
- married (or divorced several times) by now with hoards of screaming
- children that you'd just love to hand over to the grandparents to raise!
-
- Or, alternatively, convince a good friend to play along and introduce
- the "man (or woman) of your mother's worst nightmare" to them as your
- "intended". (Not nice, but it gets the point across) :-)
-
- As to handling the kid issue, my favorite was "Sure, I like kids 3 ways -
- baked, bar-b-qued, and broiled!" (They finally gave up asking....)
