  18. Have you really so short a memory that you have forgot Keating's
  19. big retreat from the GST?
  20. Which is just one more example of how you can't win. If you change
  21. your policy in relation to perceived voter feelings, your enemies call
  22. you weak-kneed. If you don't, then you're an arrogant dictator
  23. (even worse than that Kennett?).

  26. to want a system where one can prosper? (Oh, I can here the simple glib
  27. reply now - "since your prosperity comes at the expense of others." Trouble
  28. is that such simple minded approaches usually lead to lesser average
  29. prosperity and a general anti-tall poppy syndrome.)
  30. BTW *I* don't want a BMW anyway but even if I did I can't see
  31. it's relevance to rights or wrongs of national economic policy.

  40. Interestingly, if you are even half serious in the above, then it
  41. would appear that you will be voting for Hewson yourself. You claim
  42. the new fightback is "like something from the labor party" so
  43. presumably you don't object to it. Hewson is at worst as
  44. weak-kneed as Keating and at least he hasn't claimed
  45. we needed a recession and that he delivered it deliberately. Looks
  46. a pretty one sided competition from your standpoint - when are you
  47. going to start handing out Liberal how to vote cards
