  20. The Department of Computer Science at the Australian National University
  21. wishes to make 1-year appointments to the following positions.
  22.  
  23. Both positions relate to a project funded by DEET's National Priority
  24. (Reserve) Fund aimed at designing and implementing a departmental
  25. student administrative system.
  26.  
  27. Programmer I/II
  28.  
  29.     Salary range: $32 572 to $37 521 pa.
  30.  
  31.     Duties will include completing the design, implementation,
  32.     testing and installation of the administrative system.
  33.  
  34.     Selection will be based on one or more of the following
  35.     . tertiary level education (or equivalent) in Computer Science
  36.     . programming experience in C
  37.     . extensive experience of Unix,
  38.         including familiarity with its utilities
  39.     . experience of systems design
  40.     . ability to document systems
  41.     . ability to take initiative
  42.     . understanding of the operation of a university teaching department
  43.  
  44. Project Assistant (Technical Officer)
  45.  
  46.     Salary range: $25 327 to $30 314 pa.

  48.     The duties of this position are to assist the Project
  49.     Manager. That will include information gathering,
  50.     computer-based management of information using a developing
  51.     system, and the production of documentation.
  52.  
  53.     Selection will be based on one or more of the following
  54.     . tertiary level education (or equivalent)
  55.     . familiarity with Unix,
  56.         and some understanding of its utilities
  57.     . experience with document processing systems
  58.     . excellent writing skills
  59.     . ability to take initiative
  60.     . understanding of the operation of a university teaching department
  61.  
  62.     This position would suit a recent honours graduate, or PhD candidate.
