  19. I just saw CARMILLA this weekend. Apparently, Shelley Duvall (sp?) 
  20. did a cable series called "Nightmare Classics", and this was the first 
  21. installment. I believe the director's first name was Gabrielle. While 
  22. there were some logic problems with the movie, what can you expect in 
  23. 55 minutes? I loved the mood, and I thought the casting (Meg Tilly and 
  24. Ione Skye) was great. Very romantic. For those who haven't seen this 
  25. version of Carmilla, this one resets the tale in the American South.
  26. While not as blatantly erotic as some versions, I felt that this was a 
  27. good retelling of LeFanu's tale.

  29. I also saw LUST FOR A VAMPIRE this weekend, and I really liked it. 
  30. I'm rather shameless, though, about the kind of moody vampire movie 
  31. with pretty women whose bodices keep falling off...I even handled the 
  32. funky graveyard lovemaking scene (*where* did they get that music -- 
  33. and why?!). Though, I believe I've spent too much time watching Mystery
  34. Science Theater 3000, because every time Miss Playfair would run off, 
  35. with her upswept bundle of curls bouncing behind her, I couldn't help 
  36. but say, "Oh, oh, I have to run...must get this hairpiece back to that 
  37. waitress at Denny's, before she starts her shift!" Oh, well, maybe you 
  38. had to be there.

  40. VAMPYRES is next. It's in the VCR, waiting for my husband to finish 
  41. watching football. I played the first minute and a half to entice him, 
  42. and I'm pretty darn sure he'll watch the whole thing. :^) They kind 
  43. of drop you right into the story, don't they?
