- Here is a little news off the Associated Press wire........
-
- NEW YORK--Matt Groening, creator of 'The Simpsons,' figures he can get away with
- his irreverence just by heaping on humor. "I find you can get away with all
- sorts of unusual ideas if you present them with a smile on your face," the
- 38-year-old father of two said in the January issue of Spin magazine. "When I
- was asked 'Where does Homer Simpson work?' I said, 'Oh, at a nuclear power
- plant,' and everybody laughed." Groening, whos name rhymes with raining, lives
- with his wife and two sons in Venice, a beach community near Los Angeles. He
- said he admires musician Frank Zappa for having no use for glamour. "I don't
- care about being slick or sexy or presenting that look in my word. A lot of
- people in music videos, films, and novels express themselves with a kind of
- sullen sexiness. I'm much more interested in making people laugh. I have that
- in common with Zappa."
