  12.     I spoke to Best Brains today, because i waslooking into joining the
  13. fan club and buying the survival kit with my Visa card. (No, I'm not a
  14. yuppie, just a temp with time on his hands and unsupervised phone access.)
  15. They've been having some problems with people ordering the kit and joining
  16. the club, so I offered to make the following info available on Usenet:

  18. 1.The FAQ is correct in saying that fan club membership is free. But, please
  19. keep in mind that the fan club files and the merchandise sales files are two
  20. separate things at Best Brains-- and when someone orders merchandise and
  21. says they want to join the fanclub, it puts a lot on their shoulders
  22. to update that person in both sets of files.

  24. 2. The FAQ is slightly incorrect in stating that the Survival Kit is $5.00.
  25. It's five bucks, all right-- but shipping and handling is extra. Best Brains
  26. has been getting checks for five dollars from people who, thinking that the
  27. five bucks covered everythingweren't aware of this extra charge. So BB winds
  28. up swallowing the costs, somewhat.

  30. 3. I asked them what they'd recommend people do; they said that, if people
  31. wnat to buy stuff, they should join the fan club _first_, and receive the
  32. up-to-date merchandising flyer, which outlines the S & H costs and
  33. procedures. It'd probably work out to their benefit-- shipping costs areless
  34. when you make one order of lotsa of things, instead of ordering the kit
  35. first, and then ordering more stuff later.

  37. The newsletter is probably only going to be twice yearly, because they're
  38. _swamped_ with work out there.

  40. I know it's not reason for a major alarm, but please, could someone edit the
  41. FAQ to reflect this news?
