- I am trying to use ARn, but I have a bit of a problem. Whenever I start
- ARn, it says:
-
- arn: Info: rec.arts.startrek.info is an obsolete group in GROUPLIST (deleted).
- arn: Info: rec.arts.startrek.misc is an obsolete group in GROUPLIST (deleted).
- arn: Info: rec.arts.comics.xbooks is an obsolete group in GROUPLIST (deleted).
- arn: Info: alt.folklore.urban is an obsolete group in GROUPLIST (deleted).
-
- I haven't the slightest idea why. I read over 40 newsgroups and it finds
- all the other groups fine except for these. I am using ARn with UUCP d1.16
- and have followed all the directions. When I ran ArnMaster for the first time
- it saw all the articles in those groups (and in all the others) and built
- the .newsdb files in all the directories. It lets me read, manipulate, etc.
- all the other newsgroups but these four. There is nothing special about them.
- They all exist in my ACTIVE file just like the other groups, and they are all
- in my .GROUPLIST like the other groups, except Arn refuses to treat them
- normally, refuses to let me (re)subscribe to them, refuses to update read
- articles in them and so on.
-
- In my .grouplist, these groups are entered as:
- rec.arts.startrek.info: ;8;
- rec.arts.startrek.misc: ;9514;
- rec.arts.comics.xbooks: ;3351;
- alt.folklore.urban: ;385;
-
- A typical "normal" group shows up as:
- alt.fan.mike-jittlov: ;862; 671-862
-
- I've tried adding the final field to the 4 groups in question, but ARn
- ignores it and re-writes in what you see above.
-
- And unlike the entries in .grouplist, these 4 groups' entries in
- ACTIVE *do* show the correct first and last article numbers!
-
- Any ideas on what I can try?
-
- Any help would be greatly appreciated -- thank you!!
