- Sorry, Judex, but you're wrong here... There is an Hear 'N Aid album
- - or if there is no Hear 'N Aid album, I have a ghost in my left hand
- just now. Here is some information about it:
-
- Hear 'N' Aid An All-Star Album For Famine Relief
-
- - on the front sleeve there is a picture of all musicians who appear
- on the 'Stars' song [I have the original photo of this picture;
- found it in London a year ago:-]. Geoff Tate is there in the
- middle - looks like he's really trying to get into camera :-).
- Below of the picture there is a list of the musicians.
- - back sleeve has the song titles & small pictures taken in the
- studio when the guys were recording the 'Stars' song.
- - record company is Mercury / Phonogram and the catalog number is
- 826 044-1. The record exists only as vinyl and tape and not on CD.
- Or, I should say, I haven't seen this on CD anywhere. It ___might___
- have been released on CD in Japan - I just have this feeling and nothing
- to support it. And, the album is released in 1986.
- - Inner sleeve has advertisements for other Hear 'N Aid things, like
- shirts and posters. There is a photo of Jimmy Bain, some girl I
- don't know and Craig Goldie. The other side of the inner sleeve has
- lyrics for 'Stars' and credits etc.
- - Most of the songs are performed by bands which didn't appear on
- the 'Stars'. The track listing is:
-
- Side A Side B
- Hear 'N Aid: Stars Kiss: Heaven's On Fire (live)
- Accept: Up To The Limit (live) Jimi Hendrix: Can You See Me
- Motorhead: On The Road (live) Dio: Hungry For Heaven (live)
- Rush: Distant Early Warning (live) Y&T: Go For The Throat
- Scorpions: The Zoo (live)
-
- This album is not rare but, on the other hand, it isn't too common
- either. I guess it will get rare within next 5 years.
-
- There are at least three different single versions of the 'Hear 'N Aid
- Stars':
-
- 7" (HEAR 1 or 884 004-7) Side A has short version of 'Stars' and
- side B has interviews of the people who were involved with the
- project. made in UK.
-
- 12" (HEAR 12) Side A has extended version of 'Stars' and side B has
- those same interviews as 7". There is no 'made in xxx' type of
- texts but the record is most likely made in UK. Vertigo/Phonogram.
-
- 12" (884 004-1) Same song/int. as on the 12" above, but given times
- differ! The above 12" claims 'Stars 7:20' and 'The 4 1/2 minute
- news 5:01' and this one '7:04' and '5:00'. Made in The
- Netherlands. Mercury/Phonogram.
-
- Now, the interesting part follows. There is a mistake on both of those
- 12"s. They claim that 'B side: Stars (4:43) The 4 1/2 Minute News
- (5:00)'. But there is no Stars on B side! Most copies of the UK
- version have the B side Stars title on back sleeve blackened with felt
- pen. There are some copies of the UK 12" which still have the Stars
- title visible.
-
- If anyone has that 'visible Stars' version of the UK 12", plese let me
- know. I'd be interested in buying it... Same applies also for that
- possible CD version of the Hear 'N Aid album.
-
- >There is a video called "The Hear N' Aid Sessions" that was out.
- >My roommate got it for a buck z few years back. Lots of singers and
-
- Is this video released in Europe? If it is, and if someone has it, I'd
- be most interested in buying it (the original video, I already have a
- copy of it). I might also be interested in buying the USA version of
- it (NTSC).
