- Bozzio is an excellent choice. The Jeff Beck album is very good, but he's
- also done a lot of work with Frank Zappa.

-
- Technically speaking, Bill Bruford is way ahead of Peart. Check out his
- work on King Crimson's "Discipline" album, and the first album by Bill
- Bruford's Earthworks. Technically excellent, and some of the most emotional
- drumming I've ever heard.
-
- Peart remains my all-time favourite though. He's a very thoughtful player,
- and can be imaginative and diverse, but he knows exactly how to complement
- a song rather than overshadow it or drown it. Very clever indeed.
-
- Some others worth checking out:
-
- Phil Collins (early Genesis, esp. "Selling England By The Pound" & "Foxtrot")
- Ian Mosely (Marillion)
- Mark Brzezicki (Big Country, Fish, sessions)
- Simon Phillips (sessions)
- Dave Weckl (Chick Corea)
- Vinnie Colaiuta (Zappa, Allan Holdsworth, sessions)
-
- and since this is alt.r-n-r.metal
-
- Jerry Gaskill (King's X)
- Scott Rockenfield (Queensryche)
