  502. 1. PURPOSE:
  503.     This directory is designed to be a Who's Who of Generica (and APD-I).
  504.     It is not a detailed list of who is where and talking to whom. Events 
  505.     occur far too rapidly to keep up with individual comings and goings. 
  506.     Neither is it a roster of complete descriptions of all who visit the Inn 
  507.     (see "note" in next paragraph). It is, simply, a cast of characters
  508.     involved in the various plots and subplots here in Generica
  509.

  511. 2. CHARACTER LISTINGS:
  512.     Characters are listed first by type, then alphabetically. Some 
  513.     characters who are part of a group may be listed together. Also, 
  514.     "pets" are listed with their "owners". Each one line listing contains 
  515.     information either e-mailed to me or "over-heard" in the Inn: name, 
  516.     occupation or title, and/or unique features.
  517.  
  518.     NOTE: Someone-else is doing a great job of maintaining a list of
  519.     much more complete charater descriptions. If you would like your
  520.     character added to that list, please send your one-paragraph-type

  525. 3. THE DIRECTORY SUB-GROUPS
  526.     Most sub-groups are self-explanatory. A few additional notes are
  527.     listed below:
  528.  
  529.     VILLIANS are mostly NPCs. They are the recurring "bad guys" who make
  530.     life interesting and help provide us with tales to tell. Some of them
  531.     may be involved in specific plots, and you should check with their 
  532.     originator" before using them in posts (Great Mother for example).
  533.  
  534.     RECENT INACTIVES (APPENDIX) are any PCs and NPCs who are permanently 
  535.     (or at least semi-permanently) no longer with us for one reason or 
  536.     another. The number of weeks a character has been on the list is
  537.     indicated by asterisks (*) after their listing. These characters will
  538.     be deleted from the list after four weeks.

  541. 4. FREQUENCY/CORRECTIONS/NEW SUBMISSIONS:
  542.     I am attempting to post a new version of the "Directory" once per week 
  543.     (usually on Fridays). If I've somehow mangled your character's name or 
  544.     occupation, blame it on an old man's shaky pen and kindly send me mail
  545.     with the correct form. If I have left out your character, it may be 
  546.     because you haven't given me you name or perhaps I spilled something 
  547.     on my notes. Either way, just send me a note and I'll be sure to 
  548.     include you in the next "edition".
