- * THE EH! TEAM NEWSLETTER Issue 4 December 1992 *
- *****************************************************************************
- The Official newsletter for people who like "EH! Geoff Mann Band", Officially
- ...or near.
-
- ...if you're wondering why it's been so long...
- -----------------------------------------------
- Hello! And many apologies for the extremely long delay in getting this news-
- letter out. Much has happened since our last newsletter and most of it hasn't
- been about music. Although many of you may have been aware that Geoff has been
- ill, most will not know the full extent of the problem. Since just before
- Greenbelt, (about the time he was moving to his mew parish in Deeplish) it was
- thought that he was suffering from Crohn's Disease, which attacks the intestine
- wall and causes it to become inflamed, and, I should add, rather painful. After
- much treatment with drugs and one or two trips to hospital it was decided to
- operate to remove some of his lower bowel. This was done and upon closer ex-
- amination of the removed tissue it was found to be cancerous. We believe the
- correct medical name is carcinoma of the colon, cancer to you and me. Although
- this could have been life-threatening, a subsequent CT scan at Christie's
- hospital in Manchaster revealed that most of the cancerous tissue had been
- removed in the operation and a course of chemotherapy should get rid of the
- rest. There have been many ups, downs, set-backs etc... one of which meant a
- second operation, and although the outlook is currently good things will become
- clearer in the new year when the chemotherapy has had time to work. Geoff would
- like to thank all the people who have spent time praying for him and for all
- the get well cards and messages of support. [...] Geoff says that if anyone
- would like to send get well cards, CD's or twenty pound notes please send them
- to his new address which is included with this newsletter.

- Album News
- ----------
- Casino is doing rather well, thank you very much, and as well as selling in
- excess of 2000 copies to date, is the fastest selling SI release.
- Second Chants is not doing quite as well as Casino, but it has been very well
- received by the fanzine reviewers, and up to now we haven't seen a bad review,
- So if you're stuck for Christmas present ideas...
-
- For collectors of all things Twelfth Night, a double CD compilation album of
- Euro prog bands has just been released by MSI and contains "Afghan Red" an
- early instrumental track from 1980. Two supposedly different versions appear
- on the album, but if you can spot the difference we'll give you free sub-
- scription to the "Eh! Team" for a year...! We can only put this error down to
- a cock-up on the treanslation front between Brian Devoil and MSI, apparently
- one of the versions has a one second drop-in, and Brian sent both versions so
- they could pick the one they wanted (ho hum...). The track also credits Geoff
- Mann with vocals!!! Spot the obvious mistake. AN un-named source close to
- Geoff has suggested that he should pursue more of this style of singing. The
- album is available for dedicated fans from SI Music in Holland.
-
- Talks are afoot between SI Music and Brian Devoil to release the Twelfth Night
- live album "Live and let live" sometime next year. Now don't get excited but
- there may be more on it than the original (for instance Creepshow, Lovesong
- and East of Eden), but don't quote us on that, because Brian has to work out
- how much royalties they get from the various tracks. Like most SI releases, it
- will problably have the ususal fabby booklet to go with it, any how, watch
- this newsletter for details. If all goes well you may also see "Art and
- Illusion" and the "Virgin" album following close behind, and after extensive
- late night discussions at Brian's flat between Brian and Willebrord Elsing of
- SI Music whist listening to several gross of unreleased Twelfth Night tracks
- there may also be a CD released of totally new unreleased TN material... drool,
- drool.
