  28. We aren't forgetting the hammer-stroke are we?   Let me tell you,
  29. properly executed by a bassist in his prime, wave bye-bye to your
  30. toupe and THEN tell me it's not a percussive explosion of sound.  Also,
  31. there's always col legno (striking the string with the stick instead
  32. of the bow hair), there's spiccato which is a light 'off-the string'
  33. sounding bouncing of the bow on the string which makes it sound like
  34. you're striking the string with the hair, although properly executed,
  35. the hair never quite leaves contact with the string, and lastly, there
  36. are a few *actual* off-the-string bowing sound effects that are almost
  37. like plucking the string with a quick pressure and flick of the bow or
  38. an actual striking of the string with the bow hair.

  40. Not to mention that the upper shoulders and ribs make a nice resonant
  41. 'bongo' sound when the urge to strike strikes me.  There....suitably
  42. chastened yet?
