- It is, of course, in the stringed instrument family. When picked, it is a
- melodic, plucked instrument. When -frailed- (as I described it) it is, in
- fact, being struck, not plucked.

- In addition, the hand strikes the drumhead when striking the strings. To
- think of it as a percussion instrument helps to put the novice player in
- the proper "mindset" for the proper effects.
