- For those of you who are wondering what became of Scott Miller's band Game
- Theory, here's an update.
-
- Game Theory has a new lineup and has changed its name to "The Loud Family."
- The new lineup includes Jozef Becker (longtime friend of Scott's and ex-drummer
- for Thin White Rope), guitarist Zachary Smith (did session work on Lolita
- Nation), bassist Robert Poor (did session work on Two Steps from the Middle
- Ages), and keyboardist/vocalist Paul Wieneke. After seeing the Loud Family
- live, reviewer Kim Cooper recently wrote in Scram Magazine:
-
- "The time is ripe for the Loud Family to grasp the
- mainstream success that eluded Game Theory in the
- eighties. Unlike all of the British Big Star/Rasberry
- cover bands, the Louds can write sonds as good or better
- than young master Chilton."
-
- We (I play bass in the band) have signed with Alias Records, and the initial
- record, "Plants & Birds & Rocks & Things" is slated for release in mid-January.
-
- If you wish to get regular news of the band, please send me email (if you
- haven't already) and I'll make sure you're added to the loud-fans mail alias.
- Then we'll be able to keep you up to date with our touring schedule, record
- releases, etc.
-
- In the meantime, for Game Theory / Loud Family fans the San Francisco area, our
- immediate schedule is:
-
- 14 Jan Show at Magnolia's - Santa Rosa, CA
- 19 Jan "Plants & Birds & Rocks & Things" released in record stores (!)
- 1 Feb Record Release Party: Great American Music Hall, San Francisco
- 13 Feb Alias Records Showcase at Spike's - San Francisco
- 1 Mar (or soon thereafter) National tour kickoff in Los Angeles
-
- Watch here for more news as it evolves. Until then, have a wonderful
- politically correct non-denominational winter celebration and a happy new year.
-
- - Robert Poor (Loud Bass Player)
-
- P.S.: I'll be away from my email until 4-Jan. Don't expect an immediate reply,
- but do feel free to send email.
-
- P.P.S: I'm posting this to alt.music.alternative and ba.music. Are there any
- other obvious newsgroups or bboards that this should be sent to? Since I'll be
- away for > 1 week, please feel free to cross-post at will.
