- Could be a couple of different things. First, check to see if all the tube
- filaments are still glowing when the volume fades out. If one is not fully lit
- when the volume is faded, then you could have a loose connection in or around
- the tube sockets where the filament power is supplied (or another bad tube).
- If all filaments are still glowing normally, try flipping the standby switch
- a few times. The high voltage power supply to the tubes' plates is switched
- thru this switch and sometimes they wear out and make intermittant contact.
- The fading out could be the tubes running on what charge is left in the
- filter capacitors when the current is cut out by a faulty standby switch.
- If the problem is tube filament related, the fade-out will be somewhat
- gradual in the amount of time it takes, if the problem is in the high voltage
- supply, the fade-out will occur much more rapidly (about as fast as if you
- unplugged the power cord while playing).
