  13. In the summer of '78, my friend Eric and I were the sole
  14. employees of a bicycle shop in Oakland, CA.  The place
  15. did not have a functioning toilet, and after a while,
  16. the nearby restaurant owner got really tired of us.
  17.  
  18. Somehow, we got the bright idea of peeing into our
  19. empty milk cartons, though disposing of them was a
  20. precarious matter.  One evening, Eric put his pee-filled
  21. milk carton on the sidewalk just outside the front door.
  22. When we got to work the next day, it was gone.
  23.  
  24. We continued this practice on an almost daily basis
  25. for the rest of the summer, and without fail the tainted
  26. cartons would disappear.  We never did figure out who
  27. took them or why.
