  14. This appeared in the Jerusalem Post (which also printed the exploding
  15. toilet dropped stretcher story) on Oct 18 1989 (at least the mail
  16. message that I sent to someone on that date says it was from that
  17. day's message:

  19.     Thieves with a penchant for travel recently returned a wooden
  20.     rabbit used as a lawn ornament along with 48 photos showing
  21.     the rambling rabbit in such far-off locales as Reno, Nevada,
  22.     and the Virgin Islands.

  24.     The rabbit was taken from the lawn of Harry and Louise West's
  25.     Reistertown, Maryland, home.  It reappeared eight months
  26.     later, propped on the windshield of their car next to a bag of
  27.     photographs.

  29.     `There are all kinds of pictures.  One where he's building a
  30.     sand castle.  One where he's looking at the bus station.  One
  31.     at the airport,' said Louise West.

  33.     `We were angry for a while, but then we just forgot about the
  34.     missing rabbit,' she said.

  36.     The location was written on the back of each photograph along
  37.     with the initials SBR - presumably for Stolen Bunny Rabbit.

  39.     The rabbit went west to Utah, Missouri, and Nevada, then back
  40.     east to New York, Philadelphia and Atlantic City.  Then on to
  41.     Maryland, North Carolina, Florida's Disney World, Bermuda and
  42.     St. Thomas.

  44.     The well-traveled hare was even photographed with Baltimore
  45.     Mayor Kurt Schmoke, who is shown holding it.

  47.     `How in the world the person got the mayor to pose with the
  48.     rabbit, I can't imagine.' West said.
