- I'm no geologist, and I've never been to NYC, but, the WTC is
- built on bedrock. Midtown has bedrock, as does the financial district.
- The area in between largely isn't suitable to skyscrapers. The geology
- of Manhattan Island was largely determined toward the end of the last
- ice age. The southernmost limit of the galcier was near there.
