- This appeared, BTW, in an article in the Dec. 92 Harper's. It's in
- the middle of an article about a new crash-test-dummies toy to be
- released this Xmas (hmmm, probably already released then). The toy
- is a car that can be crashed into walls and will crumple up.
- Quote from the article:
-
- "Ironically, the three major networks now refuse to air NHTSA's public-
- service ads, arguing that the spots amount to ads for the Tyco toys."
-
- Other interesting quotes:
-
- "The decapitated head [sic] has a friendly expression that invites sadism,
- a detail that Tyco knows will appeal to little boys."
-
- "A female dummy, Darlene, was planned, but Tyco decided boys would not
- play with her and that girls were not likely to want the toy."
