- Well, I work in Lowell (Mass), and can safely say that one of Lowell's
- few redeeming characteristics is that it is not one bit Politically
- Correct (the other one is that it's not in New Jersey). This is a city
- that, because a lot of people in it don't speak English, has adopted
- English as its official language. Lowell is a city where (and I'm
- not making this up) a defendent in a murder trial testified that he
- could not possibly have committed the crime because he was busy stabbing
- someone else at the time. It's the kind of place where guys in plaid
- flannel shirts who haven't shaved since the Eisenhower administration
- proudly drive '72 Dodge Chargers with one red and one yellow door
- and a big American flag on the back window. In other words, it's the kind
- of place where people listen to Rush Limbaugh...
