- + Joel Furr called for urban train folklore. Here's a story that I heard
- +a long time ago in New York City.
- +
- + A maintenance man in a midtown office building was checking the lights,
- +and had to replace an eight-foot long fluorescent tube.

- [Details of fluorescent lamp disposal/littering story deleted.]

- This is a cute story. I recall reading it in a series of reports
- entitled _Common Sense_ reports for business. Basically a _Reader's
- Digest_ of basic guidelines and anecdotes for people who run small
- businesses. The illustrations and writing remind me of publications
- of the 1950s and I had the impression that the lamp story went back
- a ways. I've also seen it reprinted in Christian church literature
- as an inspiration of something, but I can never remember.
-
- The versions I heard were detailed as to which bridges in NYC the
- fellow had to go through, and each borough. None of which I can
- recall now.
