- This is going to sound weird to people who live in countries with civilized

- Each ounce is 437.5 grains; there are 16 ounces, or 7000 grains, per pound.
- Precious metals, on the other and, are weighed according to the troy system,
- which has 480-grain ounces, and 12 ounces, or 5760 grains, per pound. Thus,
- an ounce of feathers weighs less than an ounce of gold, but a pound of
- feathers weighs more than a pound of gold.
