: IMHO, Eddings has decided enough has been written about Garion and
: friends. I mean, he is forging ahead with another double series
: (Elenium/Tamuli).
:
: Actually, I think the Belgariad/Mallorean series has finished in a
: very nice place. I think we can rest assured that Eriond can keep the
: world peaceful and happy, and that it would be too boring to write
: another book about it. :-) :-)
I agree that now that Eriond has taken Torak's place and the there's now only one Prophesy in the Belgariad/Malloreon reality, trying to come up with another adventure would be pretty lame. I mean, what could Eddings possibly come up with to rival Torak and Zandramas? The Bear Cult? Not likely.
: On that note, how do people (and especially fans :-) feel about the
: concept that "enough is enough" and that there comes a time when a
: story must stop? Or what about *gasp* that ideas are no longer new
: and refeshing? Just something to think about.
Though I'll miss Belgarion and the other characters, I do think that it's time to let it go. However, I think that Eddings could do some wonderful stuff with all of that wonderful stuff that happened around the time of the recovery of the Orb and Vo Mimbre. Just a thought.
: Finally, something I have not seen mentioned in this group: Does
: anyone have an opinion on _The Losers_?
I liked _The_Losers_. While it was very different from anything by Eddings which I had read before (no kidding) I found it to be very gritty and hard edged. It took huge shots at the city of Seattle as well as the American "Welfare" system. The characters were real and believable and so was the environment. A good read.
