I am sure this can be done. In my dim memory of reading the manual,
they specifically mention that since the Option board reads flux transitions,
they can do any encoding including GCR (that Apple2 encoding). It would
be really great if someone wrote the s/w to interface the option board
to the emulator (I would volunteer except that I don't have the option
board did not come with programming manual and that I have a kid not, so
no time for hacking.)

ALso, since the option board can handle 1.2 meg drives, I see no reason
why one could not handling half-tracking. This should let the emulator
run almost all protected software (yes, I know about the funny synchronised
read/write stuff that some apple s/w uses; yes, I have a plan that should
work).
