  11. It is stated in the LSD FAQ that  "The mushroom psylocybin cubensis
  12. contains all four of these indole derivatives [ DMT, DET, psylocin, psylocybin], as well as others". As we all know, DMT and DET are not orally active since MAO enzymes in
  13. the stomach 'destroy' them. However, in the psylocybin  section of the 
  14. _Psychedelic Encyclopedia_ it is stated that if mushrooms are chewed thoroughly for 
  15. approximately five minutes prior to ingestion, the psylocibin will hit in approx. 2-3 
  16. minutes after that, since a good deal of it s absorbed thru the mucous lining in the
  17. mouth.

  19. Now, if that is the case,would not the other indole derivatives such as DMT and DET be
  20. absorbed thru there as well, thus bypassing the MAO's in the stomach?
  21. Or are there MAO enzymes in the saliva that would render them inactive?
