  15.     Concerning prison work -- and I'm not going to include your thread
  16. -- you've got some fucking balls.  You sound like one of those fascist
  17. potheads who take the line that the drugs they enjoy are damn near 
  18. sacramental while the drugs others choose are a sin.  Let the infant
  19. Jesus shut your mouth and open your mind!
  20.     Right now I've got a friend on Rikers, doing time for simple 
  21. possession of smack.  It's maybe the dozenth time he's been inside
  22. for simple possession.  He's a life-long junkie, unable to do anything
  23. about his habit, except occassionally go on methadone.  He's not a bad
  24. guy and he usually holds down some scut labor job or two.  His
  25. moral character isn't much better or worse than anybody who's had a
  26. ten year bout of trying to quit smoking.
  27.     So he's a con.  You're going to put him to work?  I hope they tax
  28. your butt till it bleeds for the cost of keeping him locked up.  I hope
  29. eventually you'll get tired of paying to have people locked up and
  30. decide that there really aren't that many non-violent, non-ripoff 
  31. crimes that we have to protect ourselves from.  The only way it's
  32. going to happen is if the people have to pay and pay and pay.
