  28. Windows isn't THAT slow.  But video under windows is because most PC 
  29. graphics cards are slow.  Use Windows 3.1 and a decent S3 accelerater 
  30. card on a local bus and things are fast.  It's old fashioned PC video 
  31. that makes Windows seem so slow to everybody.  Memory?  I ran Windows 
  32. successfully on 2 meg for months.  But hey, memory is cheap.
  33. OS/2 wants at least 6 megs.
  34.   And of course a fast hard disk is nice.  When my 28ms disk died I went 
  35. to a 12ms HD.  That speeded things up bunches.
  36. Windows 3.0 was slow in spots.  Windows 3.1 rooted out some of the slow 
  37. routines and fixed 'em. Window 4.0 should be a litle faster as they 
  38. optimize things.   I don't see my brother's accelerated Amiga 3000 being 
  39. faster then my 486 local bus clone running windows.
  40.   Of course he does have a Videotoaster, but that's another tale for 
  41. another day.
