  13.     A hail of bullets splatter against a concrete pillar. On the
  14. other side, a cat-eared woman is clearing a stovepipe jam from her
  15. Ares Predator. She grits her white teeth and works the pistol, trying
  16. to eject the brass cartridge. She seems young. Kind of pretty, but not
  17. pretty like a media star. Not short, but not tall either. Her eyes are
  18. green in color, with vertical slits for pupils. Cat's eyes. A sharp, small
  19. delicate nose. Adding to her feline appearance, her cat's ears poked through
  20. long heavy blonde hair. Her hair rides halfway down her back. She is dressed
  21. in black pants, grey blouse, heavy boots, and a long frock jacket with golden
  22. braid on the front, somewhat worn at the elbows.

  24.     She suddenly looks up at the reader. "Hi, I'm Yukipuma. Whenever I'm
  25. looking for past articles from Alt.cyberpunk.chatsubo, I use the Anonymous
  26. FTP archives at {catalina.opt-sci.arizona.edu}. IP # [128.196.206.60]."

  28.     The spent casing tumbles from the heavy pistol. Yukipuma chambers
  29. another round and straightens up.  "Files can be found in pub/chatsubo.
  30. The back issues are divided into files, roughly corresponding to the time
  31. that the articles where posted. However, in 1992, articles are filed by
  32. article number (400-499, etc.)"
  33.  
  34.     When the gunfire stops, Yukipuma leans against the concrete pillar
  35. and takes a deep breath. Then she jumps from behind the pillar and pops
  36. off a succession of snap shots. From the darkness comes a scream of pain.
  37. Yukipuma raises the pistol and blows off the thin wisp of gunsmoke. "Articles
  38. are compressed, and up to date as of December 9, 1992," she says with a
  39. smug smile. "If there are any problems, write to Hubert at the address below."
  40.  
  41.     The cat-earred woman begins to walk into the shadows. "Oh, and try to
  42. restrict FTP'ing to evening and weekend hours," she will add, disappearing into
  43. the darkness. "Or, I'll come visiting..."
