- Does "entertaining" preclude "accurate?" Two books written by
- Lower-48ers that are a good read are:
-
- John McPhee, "Coming Into the Country", about McPhee's experiences in
- Alaska. He presents several views of Alaska including state
- government, Inuits, back-to-nature bush living, and just plain bopping
- around remote areas.
-
- Joe McGinnis, "Going to Extremes, " similar themes to McPhee, a little
- more "embellished reality" perhaps.
-
- Any of the Robert Service poems.
-
- Sorry, no pictures included, no guarantees of accuracy, but they
- should whet your appeti.
